Coastal Seafoods is a well-curated seafood market along Minneapolis’s E 24th Street known for its extensive and fresh selection of seafood, alongside a modest café setup. The vibe here is straightforward and informal, reflecting its focus on quality ingredients rather than fancy dining. It’s a spot where locals come to pick up everything from fresh fish and shellfish to pantry items like tinned fish, sausages, and cheeses, making it a handy stop for anyone wanting to bring a taste of the coast home.

The small café inside offers quick, no-frills seafood lunches that feel perfect for a casual weekday stop or a laid-back weekend outing. Outdoor picnic tables provide a relaxed setting to enjoy a meal, which is a nice perk on warmer days. The lobster rolls are a popular choice and tend to be packed with generous portions, though experiences vary with some finding them drier than expected. Fish sandwiches also feature prominently, appreciated for their flaky texture, even if sometimes they run a bit oily.

Visitors tend to appreciate the quick, friendly service and the fact that the fish is often visibly fresh, reinforcing the market’s direct connection to quality seafood. Because the focus is mostly on the market side, this isn’t a place for slow, indulgent dining but rather for grabbing a satisfying meal or stocking up on seafood for home cooking. Those who have a seafood cooking passion or simply want a reliable source of fresh local catch will find it rewarding.

People looking for a straightforward seafood lunch in a casual atmosphere, or shoppers hunting for premium seafood in Minneapolis’s Longfellow neighborhood, will find Coastal Seafoods to be a good fit. It works well throughout the week, especially around lunch hours, when the café’s food offer is fresh and the outdoor seating can be enjoyed in fair weather.

Their selection seems endless! We wanted one of everything! But we decided on some King Crab for New Years. We will definitely be back for more seafood when we need it!

Love coming to the cafe at Coastal Seafoods. The lobster rolls are incredible and the fish sandwiches are solid, too. Obviously a great place to pick up fresh seafood, tinned fish, sausages, cheese, and pantry items as well. Remember to check the freezer for local sweet treats!

Reasonably priced seafood with a short wait time. This is a very informal eatery and it’s certainly neat to see the fresh fish available in store. Unfortunately, our lobster roll was quite dry and many pieces were over cooked. The fish sandwich was definitely our favorite of the two but it wasn’t particularly crispy and was rather oily. The fish was still flaky and delicious however.

Great lunch stop! Roll no sides is at $36, lots of good meat! We enjoyed the outdoor picnic seating, very cute and quick friendly service.

Stopped in this week as we were looking for a patio to enjoy the cooler temps. You order in the back corner and can eat inside or out. If you want to purchase a beverage (water, teas, N/A cocktails, and locally made soda) you order at a separate counter (maybe at the back counter too but we were waved over to the front counter by main doors.) We ordered the Nashville Hot style sandwhich entree (included fries and coleslaw) and the classic lobster roll. Both were delivered to the table outside with quickly. The lobster roll tasted fresh and the Nashville hot style crab was good, albeit it appeared there was more friend batter than crab.

I have been going to coastal seafood for about 5 plus years. I have never had bad a bad experience. The raw oysters have been fresh along with the sushi grade fish. They were helpful in teaching me to shuck my own oysters. The lunch counter has great clam strips. I do ask for them to be lightly fried. On occasion, they have been overcooked. It is also located next to an awesome asian grocery store to complete your shopping needs or try something new.
